Our Story

How it all started...

The name Kennebec comes from the Kennebec River in Maine. Originally, sawmill owner Kemp Johnson and other residents bought ice from this river during the summer, and it shipped it to the area. On October 24, 1915, the first faithful members started Kennebec Baptist Church, and from our humble beginnings, God is still doing great things at KBC.

Expanding the vision...

Today we focus on family ministry and GATHERING together, giving families the spiritual guidance they need to navigate the world, no matter what stage of life. We accomplish this by GROWING together in our study of God’s Word and how to apply God’s Word to our lives daily, from the very young to the young at heart. Then, with this knowledge and support from one another, we can GO together to accomplish the Missio Dei or the “Mission of God “ and reach our community, nation, and the ends of the earth with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
